Stop! Didja read what Jesus just said?

Jesus says in John 14: 12-14:

     “Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do."  --The Message, www.biblegateway.com

 Hold on:   '[T]he person who trusts in me will not only do what I'm doing, but even greater things...'

 Ummmm, you do realize that it's Jesus who is saying this, right?  

 You know, the Jesus who healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead.  The Jesus who calmed the storm, walked on water, multiplied bread and fishes.  The Jesus who loved the unlovely, pursued the sinners and became their friends.  The Jesus who died on the cross, and rose from the dead.  

 THIS Jesus said,

 "YOU WILL DO EVEN GREATER THINGS."

 Whoa...   Really...  Like what...

 A disciplemaking lifestyle.  

The adventure of a lifetime.  

Seeing people find a place where they can take next steps with Jesus, and in time come to know Him as Lord and Savior, and in the midst of that walk, invite their friends to take next steps together with Jesus with them....and so on, and so on, and so on...(You get it!)

 HOW?

"Because I (Jesus) on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I've been doing.  You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do."

Wow...What are we asking God for? 

This is what I'm praying for us:

I am praying for all of us that we would see God do amazing things for His glory, and that we would live, together in mutual community [You+Me+Jesus] as we take next steps with Jesus together. 

We are so excited to be walking with you on this adventure with Jesus together.  I am so excited to see what God is going to do.  Wow, hey let me finish this up by praying for us:
  
God, As we live life, gathered and sent for the renown of our King Jesus, may He help us take next steps with Jesus, so that as we grow as disciplemakers, our friends will grow as disciplemakers, so that their friends will grow as disciplemakers, ad infinitum.  (Deut 6) For your glory God.  In Jesus name we ask, Amen!

 Praying with and for all y'all as we take next steps with Jesus together--and excited to see the "Greater Things" God does.

Unexpected destinations along the way

 I met with a pastor this weekend and had a chance to talk about disciplemaking with him for a long time.  It was refreshing.  Not just to talk about how to live a disciplemaking life, but to actually talk about walking with each other, with Jesus, with others; and helping each other take next steps with Jesus together.  Ahhhh, mutual community. The surprise... Neither of us knew each other before this weekend. Through a mutual friend, I was told that this was someone I should say hello to as we were passing through.  I was invited out for coffee.  My family was then invited over for dinner, to hang out with the missional community group that they were having that evening.  It was great.  There were folks there from all different places in their walk with Jesus.  They knew their neighbors.  We were warmly welcomed, and their hospitality made us feel right at home. A Disciplemaking Way of Life Invitation

Jesus has commissioned us to live as Disciplemakers.  The way we talk about that is by asking, “How can we take next steps with you, with Jesus, Together!” We would love the opportunity do life with you.  Church happens in and through our lives–It’s the reason why Jesus put skin on, and came to hang out with us. What you can expect is simple; We want to find ways to Eat Together, Serve Together, and Play Together.  In that, we are trying to keep a fresh walk with Jesus–you certainly don’t need any more of us splashing off on you—you need more Jesus splashing off. Christmas 2018 The Seed of Abraham

Hello this is Eric again.  A friend asked me, “How can I know that the Bible is true?”  So, I am taking some time to answer my friends question and to do this I am looking at one of the evidences the Bible gives to answer this question, Prophecy.  (Read the previous blogs here ) The Bible is full of stories of people who God gave promises too, through prophecy, and then we are given a front row seat to see what it was like to step out in faith and take next steps with God, Together.  Abraham is one of those people.
