Disciplemaking Culture
Please take a prayerful deep breath and walk with me a moment.
Matthew 28:18-20 is where we find the passage in the Bible that commissions us to live as disciplemakers.
This is a process, and a lifelong walk with God.Matthew 28:18-20 is where we find the passage in the Bible that commissions us to live as disciplemakers.
So,
I want us to take a look at the Gospels in the Bible and look at how
Jesus walked with people and helped them on this journey with Him. Ask
the questions we are asking through Jesus' eyes.
Did He engage Pharisee's differently than Prostitutes and Tax Collectors? How? Why?
What are the ways Jesus engaged others? List the ones you see and where...
Did He have any normal patterns? What were they?
The disciples learned this way of life from Jesus. When Paul mentions that he passed off his teaching, and his way of life
this was something he learned from Barnabus, who learned it from the
first disciples, who learned it from Jesus. So it is good to look at
Jesus way of life, and think through the process, and try to see it
through His eyes.
Since He has called us to do this,
how do we make sure that we are doing this. To follow, follow and
fish, and follow fish and multiply? It needs to be the culture that
marks who we are as His followers.
Please take some time to look at the long walk Jesus took with people. Since He is the same yesterday, today, and forever...and since He has walked with us...we need to follow His example, and the Gospels give us a glimpse of what that looked like.
What does that Disciplemaking lifestyle look like....it should look like Jesus...so, let's take a look and see where we can take next steps with Him together.
