Who's on your list?

34 Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. 35 You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe[e] for harvest. 36 The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike! 37 You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true. 38 I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.”  John 4: 34-38 NLT

 Who's on your list?

 Once we start on this disciplemaking journey that Jesus has invited us on, He begins to change us and shape us to be like Him.  

Since the Holy Spirit is daily shaping us to like Jesus, how do we intentionally lean in and join God willingly in this walk?  

 1.  Keep a fresh walk with Jesus--no one needs more of us, they need more Jesus overflowing in and through us

 2.  Keep a normal rhythm of Kavanah--God will show up and do great big God things and help us to hit the target as we; Study the Bible together, Pray together, Love one another, and Worship--celebrating who God is and what He is doing.

 3.  We have been created for such a time as this, and God has prepared in advance good works for us to do...

 So,

 God, give us the eyes to see, the ears to hear, and the heart to obediently (quickly and cheerfully) follow your Holy Spirit's leading.

 Take a moment to write a list of who is in your life.

 Then:

 1.  Pray for those people, and ask God to give you opportunities to connect with them 

(Remember!  Ministry occurs in the context of relationship--we get to prayerfully and intentionally be their friends, and watch God develop trust--and then, when God gives us a God-door (an opportunity to pray, serve, share, minister, or let them do that for us) pray for the God-compassionate-courage to walk through that door).  Since it is God's job to change the heart, we just need to hang with God, with them, and be prayerfully intentional and ready to obey at God's leading.

2.  Ask God to show you who isn't on your list, but should be--then add them.

3.  Find someone to pray with you.

I have been praying for and with y'all, and am excited to see where God will help us to take next steps with Jesus, together, as we live gathered and sent for the renown of our King Jesus!

May God make you wildly successful as disciplemakers for the glory of His name!

Unexpected destinations along the way

 I met with a pastor this weekend and had a chance to talk about disciplemaking with him for a long time.  It was refreshing.  Not just to talk about how to live a disciplemaking life, but to actually talk about walking with each other, with Jesus, with others; and helping each other take next steps with Jesus together.  Ahhhh, mutual community. The surprise... Neither of us knew each other before this weekend. Through a mutual friend, I was told that this was someone I should say hello to as we were passing through.  I was invited out for coffee.  My family was then invited over for dinner, to hang out with the missional community group that they were having that evening.  It was great.  There were folks there from all different places in their walk with Jesus.  They knew their neighbors.  We were warmly welcomed, and their hospitality made us feel right at home. A Disciplemaking Way of Life Invitation

Jesus has commissioned us to live as Disciplemakers.  The way we talk about that is by asking, “How can we take next steps with you, with Jesus, Together!” We would love the opportunity do life with you.  Church happens in and through our lives–It’s the reason why Jesus put skin on, and came to hang out with us. What you can expect is simple; We want to find ways to Eat Together, Serve Together, and Play Together.  In that, we are trying to keep a fresh walk with Jesus–you certainly don’t need any more of us splashing off on you—you need more Jesus splashing off. Christmas 2018 The Seed of Abraham

Hello this is Eric again.  A friend asked me, “How can I know that the Bible is true?”  So, I am taking some time to answer my friends question and to do this I am looking at one of the evidences the Bible gives to answer this question, Prophecy.  (Read the previous blogs here ) The Bible is full of stories of people who God gave promises too, through prophecy, and then we are given a front row seat to see what it was like to step out in faith and take next steps with God, Together.  Abraham is one of those people.
